Pretty sad that an eleven year old kid would get harassed at a hockey game. Good for the kid to wear his colors none the less and complete class act by JT as usual

Agreed. If the kid was wearing a Rangers jersey well then I'd get it but come on.

It's an alarming trend in sports. Good for JT to keep the passion alive for an 11 year old.

Good move Tavares. No need for that crap!
I took my 3 year old to the coliseum and he had to listen to fans calling Lundqvist the "C" word that ladies hate and fans saying behind us "hey kid, your still young, you can switch teams" making him uncomfortable. Is what it is. We'll stick to the Garden.
It happens everywhere! That's my only point.

and the Coliseum is a better place for it. BTW, who the fack brings their three yr old to an Isles Rangers game? I'll call BS on this and if it isn't that brings up a whole other question(the one I previously asked)? btw. The garden where the fans are polite my friends girlfriend got shoved down the stairs for wearing an Islanders jersey by some moron who thankfully saw jail time. Three surgeries later she walks but with a limp. You've trolled consistently enough on this thread on a daily basis enough for us to know that there was nothing constructive about this post so when you say "That's my only point" all of us know what your real point is.

Are you serious???
And I said it happens everywhere which includes MSG and its disgusting. And who brings a 3 year old to a hockey game? Really? First of all, he plays ice hockey and loves the game. Secondly, I paid good money to sit near the ice thinking we would not be near idiots (fans of both sides) but I guess some fans from Shirley Mastic won tickets.

The fact that I even entertained your ludicrous post actually bothers me.

Side note: Again, good move Tavares!

Why pick on the kid? I mean, he's already an Islanders fan. Talk about kicking one when they're down.

Good for John Tavares... This is why hockey players are the best athletes out there.

You're the biggest Ranger troll in our thread. Your posts will never be taken seriously your posts aren't even taken seriously in your own thread for God's sake. You've never offered anything of substance to our thread save for an insulting bordering on mentally challenged troll attempt and then you leave. He plays ice hockey and loves the game? He's three right? I don't think anyone would be rude informing you bringing a three yr old to an Isles Rangers game is perhaps not the brightest idea. I think the problem starts there bud. Again I'll call BS on this and just another one of your lame a$$ trolling attempts. Anything to throw insult at the Islanders right? Just look at your location for proof. . As far as your Shirley/Mastic comment you'd be shocked to know there are more Ranger fans in suffolk than Nassau.

This is funny. It's even more funny due to it coming from a Leaf fan.

^ Agree 110%. The majority of them (super stars or not) go out of their way for fans.

Just sad there are fans like this in all sports. To a kid especially. But no matter the age, it is just ridiculous. If an away team fan shoots their mouth off obnoxiously then that is one thing, but for those who just want to see their team play and support them is another.

Let people support their teams in peace. Some teams (not just hockey) you can't even wear an opposing jersey or you will get harassed way over the line to people throwing stuff at you etc.

So sad.

Every Winnipegger I talked to is pissed about this episode. It does not represent 99.9 % of the fans. I have been to lots of games and have seen first hand the people (especially kids) who were wearing opposition jerseys being treated just fine.

Please don't let the actions of a couple of A-holes (because they exist in every city) sour the opinion of real jets fans.

Awesome move by Tavares. Class act.

Wow. Nice story. Always thought Tavares was a bit of a dink, but this is very nice to hear and went up in my books. Good on him! Hopefully Winnipeg finds the fans who harassed a kid and take away ticket privileges for awhile. Nothing wrong with a little fun banter with a young fan, but of course there is a limit. Sounds like Winnipeg fans went well over it.

Well that happened alot quicker than I thought it would. (after first reading the article yesterday).

JT91 is definitely a class act, and it was shown in full form yesterday.

Hope Jake & his mom enjoy the game next year, and Jake enjoys his new JT jersey.

Unfortunately these types of things happen at sporting events in cities all over the world. No one thinks all Winnipeggers are like that or that this only happens in your city.

I don't see any problems, whatsoever, with bringing a 3 year old to a hockey game.

And this is one of the many reasons Winnipeg is the armpit of Canada.

Stay classy. Wait til your team threatens to move (again) in another 10 years...I'm sure you'll be begging to see that kid in the crowd. Paying his money (or parents money).
